Sawaijpur comes under the Hardoi district and it is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Sawaijpur voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 23 and the result was declared on March 10.
Sawaijpur assembly constituency had 3,84,714 electors in 2017, out of which 2,13,239 were male voters and 1,71,475 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 15 candidates in the fray from Sawaijpur constituency. Sawaijpur was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Kunvar Madhvendra Pratap won the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Padamrag Singh Yadav by a margin of 26,970 votes.
94.8% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Kunvar Madhvendra Pratap grabbed a total of 92,601 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Padamrag Singh Yadav got 65,631 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Dr. Anupam Dubey Advocate bagged 59,791 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 40.3%, 28.5% and 26.0% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Rajani Tiwari outperformed Jan Kranti Party(Rashtrawadi)'s Padmarag Singh Yadav by 4,519 votes.
