West Bengal Election: Matigara-Naxalbari Assembly Constituency 2022

Matigara-Naxalbari comes under the Darjiling district and it is one of the 294 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Matigara-Naxalbari voted for West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 on April 17 and the result was declared on May 2.

What happened last time

In 2016, 6 candidates were contesting for Matigara-Naxalbari assembly constituency seat. Matigara-Naxalbari was one of 44 seats won by the All India Trinamool Congress. Indian National Congress's Sankar Malakar won the election by defeating All India Trinamool Congress's Amar Sinha by a margin of 18,627 votes.

96.5% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Sankar Malakar grabbed a total of 86,441 votes, while All India Trinamool Congress's Amar Sinha got 67,814 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Anandamoy Barman bagged 44,625 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 41.9%, 32.9% and 21.7% respectively.

In West Bengal Assembly election 2011, Indian National Congress's Sankar Malakar outperformed Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Jharen Roy by 6,833 votes.
