West Bengal Election: Murshidabad Assembly Constituency 2022

Murshidabad is one of the 294 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Murshidabad district. West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 for Murshidabad will be held on April 26 and the result was declared on May 2.

Murshidabad assembly constituency had 2,34,038 electors in 2016, out of which 1,20,339 were male voters and 1,13,698 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 1.3% votes.

What happened last time

In 2016, 9 candidates were contesting for Murshidabad assembly constituency seat. Murshidabad was one of 44 seats won by the All India Trinamool Congress. Indian National Congress's Shaoni Singha Roy won the election by defeating All India Trinamool Congress's Ashim Krishna Bhatta by a margin of 25,139 votes.

94.9% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Shaoni Singha Roy grabbed a total of 94,579 votes, while All India Trinamool Congress's Ashim Krishna Bhatta got 69,440 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Gouri Sankar Ghosh bagged 24,031 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 47.7%, 35.0% and 12.1% respectively.

In West Bengal Assembly election 2011, Indian National Congress's Shaoni Singha Roy beat All India Forward Bloc's Bivas Chakraborty by 6,352 votes.
