She might be known for her performances in films like No Entry (2005), Billu Barber (2009) and Housefull (2010), but actor and former model Lara Dutta says that for her two-and-a-half year old daughter, she’s far from being a star or beauty queen.

“Saira’s still a toddler and doesn’t really watch TV, or even understand if she sees me on the screen. So, at home when the make-up is coming off, I’m still Saira’s slave,” jokes the 36-year-old, who married tennis champ Mahesh Bhupathi in 2011.

On the work front, Lara is excited that she’s now making her TV debut with an idea she relates to. “I’ll host and judge a reality show, and mentor a bunch of girls competing for a beauty pageant. It’s a nostalgic experience. Where these girls are now, I was there 14 years ago,” says Lara, who won a global beauty pageant in 2000.

“Things have changed a lot. It’s not just about waving at a parade; it’s also about being TV friendly, media savvy and so much more now,” says Lara, ruing the fact that India hasn’t really had success in international beauty contests, ever since she brought the crown home.

Shooting for TV is, however, something that she’s enjoying. “Television has evolved a lot over the years. I’m, in fact, producing content for TV as well, and I wouldn’t mind being part of a fiction show if the format suits me,” says the actor, who turned producer with Chalo Dilli in 2011.
