Cheryl Cole has become the latest celebrity victim to join the News Of The World phone hacking episode.
Cole’s agents fear that her phone was hacked after she collapsed with the deadly disease while filming hit show The X Factor last year, reports the Daily Star.
Someone claiming to be a former employee of axed newspaper dropped the hacking bombshell on social networking site Twitter.
They claimed that the Girls Aloud star’s phone was targeted "while she underwent treatment for malaria" although they did not reveal the culprits.
The allegation was repeated on a Twitter site devoted to fans of the singer’s Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding, 29.
The author of SarahAddicts wrote: “Is that true about Cheryl’s phone been (sic) hacked when she was ill – sick f***ers if it was."
