Troubled British rock star Pete Doherty, who turned 30 on Thursday, wants to stay away from women and remain single.

"I just don't want to inflict myself on any girl," Doherty was quoted as saying by thesun.co.uk.

"I wouldn't want her to have anything to do with me or the people I know or my life as it is at the moment. They just don't need it, you know," he added.

While revealing that he and his former band The Libertines are reuniting since he has got past drug addiction, Doherty admitted that he was afraid that he will not be remembered for his music.

"I keep reading about people, about unfulfilled potential, that's a killer that. They'll be able to name 10 things about me or to do with me or someone I've been with before they'll ever be able to name a song. And that really is quite sad," Doherty said.
