Dear diary,

I had come to Delhi from Kolkata and used to miss the food habits of Kolkatans. Also the fish here in Delhi was very expensive and as a result I was not able to eat fish every day. One day, I went to the famous CR Park market with friends who had told me that the place is more like Mini Kolkata. There I had ghugni, puchkas… because that’s all I could afford since I was always cash strapped.

I entered the fish market and to my utter delight, it was flooded with the same variety like that in Kolkata. But everything was so expensive. I looked at the fish with longing in my eyes and was just about to leave when one of the guys selling fish asked me what I wanted. Since I had no money, I shook my head saying nothing. But then he just picked up a Rohu (a kind of fish) and packed half a kilogram for me in the packet.

I looked at him and said I don’t have money. He said I can pay him when I have the money. Till then, enjoy this fish. I was amazed by the niceness of this guy who must not be earning much but still wanted to see me happy. I returned the money but this memory will always remain with me.
