The 20-year-old actress uploaded the video in which she is dressed up like a unicorn and is shaking her bum for the camera in the raunchy routine, the Sun reported.
The identity of Cyrus gets revealed only at the end of the video clip when she removes a hood from her face.
Cyrus, who has denied reports of splitting from fiance Liam Hemsworth, kept her engagement ring covered by wearing a glove on her left hand.
MCtwerkteam quickly became a Twitter trending topic and a thrilled Cyrus told her millions of followers, "My fans are the dopestttttt (sic). Mctwerkteam is trending worldwide... my night is complete."
Producer Pharrell Williams, rapper French Montana and models Amber Rose and Cara Delevingne showed their support by sharing links to the clip on their Twitter pages.
