With the first match of the Indian Premier League set to take place tonight, April 3, between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils, there is no reason for the average fan to be left out, even if they haven’t booked a seat at the stadium. The official IPL season 6 mobile game, called IPL Cricket Fever 2013, was launched on the Android platform on April 2. It offers a close-to-real-life experience of an actual game with players getting to choose which out of the nine IPL teams they want to play with.

“With the IPL frenzy growing every year, we have witnessed millions of downloads of the official IPL game. This one too will engage cricket fans in an immersive experience with original players and teams. With added features like the challenge mode and the cheerleaders, we aim to provide an even more enhanced cricketing experience,” says Vishal Gondal, managing director, digital, Disney UTV. In the game, you can play with your favourite cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar, Michael Hussey, MS Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, Yusuf Pathan, Kieron Pollard, Lasith Malinga, Dale Steyn and many others.

Once logged in, the gamer starts a match by selecting a friend to challenge. The objective of the game is to hit maximum runs in one, three or five overs and set a challenge for your opponent to beat. Cheerleaders from the in-game store applaud 6s and 4s as well. The game provides real-life simulation using motion capture animation which makes the overall experience more realistic. It has unique swipe-based controls for batting, and allows the gamer to hit the ball in any direction. It even offers TV broadcast-style cameras to give the gamer the feel of watching a cricket match on the small screen.
