All the times Samantha Ruth Prabhu proved she was the queen of comebacks when trolls targeted her online
Samantha Ruth Prabhu has often been the target of trolls on social media. But, over the years, the actor has silenced and shut down trolls with her replies.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who turns 36 this Friday, has not shied away from giving it back to trolls on her social media. On her birthday, we look back at some of those moments when the Shakuntalaam actor hit back at trolls, be it for her divorce with actor Naga Chaitanya, or for misogynistic comments on appearances of women.
Earlier in March last year, Samantha had shared several pictures of herself wearing a dark green gown with a train. She paired the slip outfit, which had a plunging neckline, with black heels and opted for a braided hairdo. After her post received unflattering comments on her body, she slammed those who judge women based on what they wear, their race, and appearance among other things. Taking to Instagram Stories, Samantha asked if judgments on women 'based on the hemlines and necklines' can be stopped. She also added that projecting a person's ideals on someone else 'never did anyone any good'.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu wrote, "As a woman, I bear firsthand knowledge of what it means to be judged. We judge women based on what they wear, their race, education, social standing, appearance, skin tone, and the list goes on and on. Making snap judgements about a person simply based on the clothes they wear is quite literally the easiest thing one can do."
"Now that we're in the year 2022- can we finally stop judging a woman based on the hemlines and necklines she adorns and focus instead on bettering ourselves? Turning that judgement inward and training it on ones own self is evolution! Projecting our ideals on someone else never did anyone any good ...let's gently rewrite the way we measure and understand a person (red heart emoji)," she added.
In 2017, she married actor Naga Chaitanya, but when in 2021, after the couple announced their separation and eventually divorced, fan clubs went to war. She responded to a news report about fans of her ex-husband Naga Chaitanya being upset with her PR team for planting baseless rumours about his present relationship. The report had said that Samantha’s PR team was behind the rumours about Naga dating actor Sobhita Dhulipala. Reacting to the report via Twitter, Samantha wrote: “Rumours on girl - Must be true! Rumours on boy - Planted by girl! Grow up guys. Parties involved have clearly moved on... you should move on too! Concentrate on your work… on your families... move on (sic).”
During an interaction with Film Companion, Samantha had also opened up about getting nasty comments about her split from Naga Chaitanya. She said that she is grateful for the love she gets and understands that people will be disappointed if her opinions and actions don’t align with their views. “Yes, they are going to troll and abuse you but then, disagreements happen even between friends and family, right?” she asked. She also added that she does not expect to receive ‘unconditional acceptance’ but said that the disappointment could have been expressed in a better manner.
Elsewhere, one troll commented on her marital status, as he also accused her of robbing ₹50 crore as alimony from a “gentleman”. Responding to this, the actor wrote: “God bless your soul.”

A few months ago, the actor revealed that she is fighting a battle against an autoimmune condition called Myositis. She had shared a picture of herself, sitting on a couch with an IV drip on her wrist. When one of the users said that women rise "just to fall", the actor gave a befitting reply saying, "Getting back up makes it all the more sweeter my friend."
Samantha is currently shooting for her action web series, which will be the Indian version of Russo Brothers' Citadel. She was last seen in Gunasekhar's Shakuntalaam. The Telugu film also featured Dev Mohan and Madhoo. The film is based on Kalidasa's popular Indian classic play Abhigyan Shakuntalam. The film released on April 14 and received an underwhelming response at the box office.
