Ever wondered what Mumbai would look like from 3,000 feet above? A group of 15 young travellers, between the age group 5 to 21, took to the cockpit this Saturday to find out just that. At Jetspark, an event organised by Jet Airways, the young flyers were selected from a large database of Jet Privilege members.

The children were given an informative presentation to help them understand the workings of an aircraft. Donning the captain’s cap, the children got a chance to try the Jet Airways Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 virtual simulators under the supervision of experts and pilots. This was followed by a quiz, wherein children were divided into three groups according to their age. “It was a marvellous experience flying the A330 aircraft with captain Zubin,” says Shubhankar Meshra, one of the quiz winners.

Dia Mirza’s entry was the cherry on the cake for the young crew. “Since childhood, we have a dream to fly high and flying an aircraft is an accomplishment of this dream. You get an amazing view from the cockpit and while you fly an aircraft,” says the actor. When asked about the actor she would like to take and fly with, she laughs, “Sohail Khan, as he has operated an aircraft before, and I wish to be safe.”

The interactive session and fun ride was followed by an essay-writing contest for the children, who were asked to write about their dream destination. Jet Airways will provide winners a free ticket to their dream destination.
