In a tribute to Nargis and Sunil Dutt, their children Sanjay, Namrata and Priya are set to launch a personal account of their parents. Diganta Guha tells more.

The Dutts are in news again, this time for a biography. In a tribute to their parents Nargis and Sunil Dutt, Sanjay, Namrata and Priya Dutt have compiled a personal account of memoirs of their parents.

Called Mr & Mrs Dutt, the book written in English is published by Roli Books Private Limited. It will be formally launched later this month.

"We are looking at two launches," informs Priya, who along with sister Namrata complied the facts depicted in the book, of course, with inputs from Sanjay.

"We have plans to release it in other languages as well.. Urdu, Hindi and Bengali. After all, our parents had a major fan following," says Priya.

Stating that there is nothing sensational in the book, she says, "Although the book is not exactly a biography, it's a memoir written through our point of view. It's our thoughts and memories of them, about how we knew them as parents. The book goes much beyond their image as actors and social activists," Priya says.

"We want to present our parents as human beings and not as celebrities," says the MP.

The Dutts have been working on the book for the last eight months. "We had to keep it personal and different because Kishwar Desai is already writing a biography of my mother," says Priya.

The book contains photographs from their personal album, Nargis and Dutt Senior's personal diaries and views from varies individuals who knew them.

"The book has interviews of those who knew our parents, but the emphasis is more on our take on them," Priya informs.
