Screen hottie Yana Gupta is all set to sizzle in an item number in Om Productions’ forthcoming Bengali feature film,
, which is co-directed by Saugata Roy Barman and Sushanto Pal Choudhury.
“The sequence is being shot in Mumbai. Yana will dance to the tunes of
Kacha pirit parar loke
,” says the film’s producer, Swapan Ghosh.
“I really liked the voice of the singer. It was fun and I enjoyed doing the item sequence. This is the first time I have done a Bengali film,” says Yana from the sets in Mumbai on Monday.
The song, composed by music director Deb Choudhury, is influenced by a popular Bengali
number, which has been sung by Jojo and Mriganko. The hip hop portion is rendered by rapper Arya. “The song has been doctored to give it a dance-remix image,” says Choudhury.
According to Ghosh, the shooting of the sequence is done at a bar called Rock Bottom in Juhu. “While it will be choreographed by Inder, Yana’s dress has been designed by Asish, who has been an assistant to Manish Malhotra. The crew will comprise people from Kolkata and Mumbai,” informs Ghosh.
Why Yana? “It’s a multiplex film with youth appeal. The song has a modern sound and I think Yana fits in superbly. Besides, the young generation likes her. This is the first time she will be seen in a Bengali film,” says the producer, adding that he chose to conduct the shooting in Mumbai because of logistical advantages.
“I didn’t get a good air-conditioned floor in Kolkata. Besides, I had to think about the availability of the stars.”
The sequence also boasts actor Tota Roychowdhury, who plays a professional killer in the movie. “In the sequence the character I am playing has come to a bar to look for a mafia don. The killer has been given a contract to murder the don. While he looks for his prey, Yana dances at the bar,” informs Tota from Mumbai.
