Thought models and actors had it easy? Check out how much they invest in keeping their glam jobs.

Being in the glamour industry doesn’t come cheap. Models may make a tidy sum walking the ramp for a few days at fashion weeks, but the amount of money spent getting themselves runway ready means there’s very little profit at the end of the day.

Dayana Erappa, who made her debut at the Lakme Fashion Week this year, says, “The first couple of seasons, you land up spending more money than you earn. We hope that a director might see us and cast us in an ad film or a movie.”

The same goes for budding actors. Sudeepa Singh, a popular face in TV ads, reveals that even after four years of hectic work, her expenses often total to sky-high sums. “When I started, I’d be paid around Rs 10,000 per ad. But now, even though I earn about Rs 1 lakh per ad, my expenses nearly match that.”
