Met Gala took place on the first Monday of May and if you have been anywhere near a functional electronic device, you already know that just the pink carpet was a spectacle to behold. The Met gala is an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s costume Institute and much like any other year an array of global celebrities walked the steps leading to the annual art exhibition following this year’s theme, Camp: Notes on Fashion. A lot has been talked about what camp means, however we would like to adhere to Anna Wintour’s definition which is, “Having fun.” The theme called out to celebrities to have fun while bringing unnatural elements, exaggeration and irony to the steps of the MET.

Staying true to the theme, global celebs did their best to celebrate this night with over the top outfits and more importantly makeup and hair looks which screamed ‘Extra’. However, it seems that extra is what this event demands from its attendees. We have enlisted some makeup looks for you to steal from this year’s campy adventure.

Priyanka Chopra

If you are a big fan of Alice in Wonderland, you would have easily seen the inspiration behind Priyanka’s hair and makeup. Priyanka Chopra walked the pink carpet with husband Nick Jonas in a Dior Haute Couture gown embellished with stones and feather. Wayward hair pointing in all directions and topped with a metallic crown much in a shape of a hat, a dark hue on eyelids , semi white eyelashes and white eyebrows, three jewels on her face all went into making Priyanka’s look resemble the character ‘The Mad Hatter’.

The Isn’t It Romantic star later changed into a jumpsuit while keeping her embellished leggings from her previous outfit, for the after party.

Lupita Nyongo

Lupita Nyongo took the theme very seriously, especially through her hair and makeup. The Black Panther actor who wore a pink Versace gown, had five gold combs stuck in the front of her hair and five stars at the back in her voluminous mane. As for her makeup, it is all things glitter, an inspiration from drag queen Divine. Besides having exaggerated white liner under her eyes, she also had drawn in eye brows above long gold eyelids.

Sophie Turner

Sophie Turner bought a hint of Winterfell in her outfit with hair sleeked out with glitter and eyes surrounded by dark hues of blue eye shadow. The GOT star chose to adhere to the theme in a black sequence jumpsuit by Louis Vuitton.

Lady Gaga

Besides changing her Brandon Maxwell outfit four times and giving a grand performance at the entrance of Met gala itself, Lady Gaga also showcased larger than life eyelashes in gold and black and made a great case of mixing white and black eyeliner. While the lashes are difficult to imitate, the dramatic winged liner can easily help you up your makeup game.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid who came as the ice queen in all white attire by Michael Kors also showed us how to wear frosted white lashes with nude lips on a red carpet. Gigi’s camp inspired outfit consisted of a metallic white and gold jumpsuit and a feather cape.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone turned into a Barbie doll in a Zac Posen’s metallic pink lurex jacquard gown embellished with 3D printed pieces, for the Met. Her hair were up in a voluminous ponytail and as for her makeup, Deepika’s choice of blending pink and purple for the eyes definitely did justice to her look. Dark burgundy lips completed her makeup which is perfect if you want to experiment for an evening party.

Deepika was later seen in a bright yellow vintage gown by Zac Posen as she posed for the after party pictures.

Some other quirky makeup looks from the night included that of Ezra Miller who had seven eyes drawn on his face to create an illusion, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Bella Hadid, Cami Mendes, Madelaine Petsch, Lili Reinhart of Riverdale fame, Cardi B, Ciara, Cara De Levigne, Yara Shahidi, Kristen Stewart and Jeniffer Lopez.
