Gujarat’s Divyang Bus Pass integrated with DigiLocker, gets national recognition
Gujarat has integrated its Divyang Bus Pass with DigiLocker, allowing persons with disabilities to access their passes digitally.
Gujarat’s Social Justice and Empowerment Department has integrated the Divyang Bus Pass with DigiLocker, allowing persons with disabilities to access the document digitally instead of carrying a physical pass, the state government said in a press release.
The integration, carried out in collaboration with the State e-Governance Mission Team (SeMT), Gujarat, has also received national recognition for citizen-centric digital governance, according to the release.
More than 4.42 lakh Divyang Bus Passes have been issued across Gujarat so far, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr Pradyuman Vaja said. The digital pass enables beneficiaries to avail free travel on Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) buses.
Digital access to bus passes
The DigiLocker integration allows beneficiaries to securely store and access their bus passes through mobile devices. The government said this removes the need to carry a physical pass and reduces the risk of documents being lost or damaged.
The initiative is part of Gujarat’s broader efforts to expand digital delivery of public services. According to the government, the integration supports paperless governance and allows beneficiaries to access a government-approved digital document for verification.
Harshad Patel, secretary of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, said the integration would provide secure access to the pass and make verification easier for beneficiaries.
The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, facilitated the integration of DigiLocker with state digital service platforms, according to the release.
Gujarat recognised for implementation
Gujarat was felicitated for the implementation of the Divyang Bus Pass integration at the National Consultative Workshop on Strengthening Cybersecurity Frameworks for State Data held in May 2026.
The state government said the initiative aligns with its efforts to improve accessibility and convenience through digital public infrastructure.
The Divyang Bus Pass also provides an accidental death insurance cover of ₹4 lakh. In the event of the accidental death of a pass holder, the nominee or legal heir can claim the insurance benefit by submitting the prescribed documents to the concerned department.
The state government said the DigiLocker integration is intended to make it easier for beneficiaries to access their bus passes while continuing to provide the associated travel and insurance benefits.
