Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat ties to deepen as Arvind Group plans ₹1,200 crore investment
MP CM Mohan Yadav and Arvind Limited’s Vice Chairman Kulin Lalbhai have discussed plans for a ₹1,200 crore investment in textile and apparel manufacturing.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday discussed the proposed expansion of Arvind Limited’s industrial operations in the state during a meeting with the company’s Vice Chairman Kulin Lalbhai in Ahmedabad. The discussions focused on investment, employment generation, textile and apparel manufacturing, industrial infrastructure and the use of technology in public safety.
The company is planning to establish industrial units at Barlai near Dewas, the PM MITRA Park in Dhar and Betma in Indore. According to the state government, the expansion is expected to strengthen industrial activity in Madhya Pradesh and create new employment opportunities, particularly for young people.
₹1,200 crore investment proposed at PM MITRA Park
Arvind Limited has proposed an investment of around ₹1,200 crore at the PM MITRA Park in Dhar. The company has been allotted 105 acres of land for the proposed unit, with production targeted to begin by next year.
During the meeting, Yadav discussed measures to accelerate the establishment of the unit and the investment approval process. The state government also shared details of incentives available to textile and apparel manufacturers, including capital and interest subsidies, reimbursement of stamp duty and registration charges, and support for green industrialisation and research and development.
The company already has operations linked to the textile and apparel sector in Madhya Pradesh. Under an agreement with Peppcon Private Limited in Indore, around 70 lakh garments are manufactured annually, according to the state government.
Focus on jobs and textile sector expansion
Yadav said stronger industrial cooperation between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh could deepen economic ties between the two states while creating employment opportunities for people in Madhya Pradesh. He said investment would also expand the state's tax base and provide additional resources for development.
The government said collaboration with Gujarat is expected to support employment for around 5,000 people in the garment sector. Arvind Limited is also exploring industrial activity in areas beyond the three proposed locations.
During the meeting, the chief minister and company representatives discussed the proposed investment in Madhya Pradesh, employment generation, textile and apparel manufacturing and the use of industrial incentives. Officials also discussed completing the application process under the Cabinet Committee for Investment Promotion and expediting scrutiny and approvals at the state level.
Industries may explore water reuse solutions
The meeting also examined ways to promote water reuse in industrial areas through Zero Liquid Discharge solutions. Discussions included the possibility of developing common ZLD systems for textile, pharmaceutical and other industrial clusters in more than 90 industrial parks being developed across Madhya Pradesh.
Another proposal involved connecting industrial parks with sewage treatment plants operated by nearby municipal corporations. The state government said such a model could support a circular water economy by enabling treated water to be reused for industrial purposes.
Mission critical communication for Simhastha 2028
Modern communication infrastructure for Simhastha 2028 was another issue discussed during the meeting. The participants considered the possible use of mission critical communication networks for police, security agencies, disaster management teams, healthcare services and event management.
Arya Omnitalk Solutions, a joint venture between Arvind Limited and JM Baxi Group, provides mission critical wireless communication, walkie talkie networks, PMRT and public safety communication solutions. The state government is examining the potential use of such systems during the large scale religious gathering.
Invitation for Global Investors Summit 2027
Yadav also invited Lalbhai to participate in the Global Investors Summit 2027 in Madhya Pradesh and encouraged Arvind Limited to explore further investment opportunities in the state.
Arvind Limited, established in 1931 and headquartered in Ahmedabad, operates across denim, apparel, fabrics and the wider textile value chain. According to the state government, the group employs more than 60,000 people across its industrial operations and sources raw material from more than one lakh cotton farmers.
The state government said the proposed industrial expansion is expected to strengthen Madhya Pradesh's textile manufacturing ecosystem while improving employment opportunities and industrial cooperation between Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
