CJM wife death: Bullet slug found, CBI to take over soon

"The SIT found the slug of another bullet on Friday and on Saturday a ballistic expert came to visit the crime scene. He spent over three hours at the scene," said police commissioner Alok Mittal. Incidentally, a source in the police department said that more bullet slugs were likely to surface, which meant that all the six rounds of the judge's revolver might have been fired.

"The discovery of the fourth slug does not tilt the balance either toward homicide or suicide at this point of time in the investigation. It might be considered a neutral evidence in the absence of supplementary evidences," a forensic expert told HT.

"A DSP-rank official of the CBI had visited Gurgaon on Friday and met the head of the SIT, assistant commissioner of police Ashok Bakshi. The CBI will take over the case next week most probably," added Mittal.

Family members of Geetanjali said they were not surprised to know of the development. "We expect two more bullets to surface very soon. We have all along been arguing that the case is fishy and that our sister was murdered as part of a conspiracy," said Rajeev Bansal, brother-in-law of the victim.

"We are also going to hold a candle march tomorrow at Jantar Mantar and thousands of people will walk for a fair inquiry," Bansal added.
