In their application, the union members alleged that senior Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) managers were present at the time of their questioning in police custody. They also claimed that they were being forced to sign blank sheets on the managers’ behest.
They asked the court to pass an order to videograph the police’s visit to Mumbai, Pune, Ajmer and Jammu for collection of articles related to the crime. The cops believe the accused have hidden the iron rods used in the crime at these places.
The workers also denied police’s claim that they arrested them from Hansi town in Hisar district while they were trying to flee to Rajasthan. They claim they were picked up while they were on their way to surrender in the court.
“Since the allegation made by the accused is of very serious nature, the court should pass a suitable order… If any accused is harmed by the police, a big industrial unrest may follow as many thousands of industrial workers are watching this trial," (sic) reads the application. The police have been issued a notice and the investigating officer in the case will file a reply on July 4.
