Sandeep Kumar, 24, who is working with IBM, was rushed to a hospital after being stabbed by Amit Dubey, 30. According to the police, the accused and the victim were neighbours and drinking together before the incident on Monday.

A case of attempt to murder has been registered against Dubey, an employee of ING Vysya Bank, Gurgaon by the victim's family. He was arrested and sent for 14 days judicial custody on Thursday.

"On Monday night Sandeep and Amit were having drinks. They started arguing over a woman. In a fit of rage, Amit picked up a kitchen knife lying nearby and stabbed Kumar in his stomach," a police officer said.

The neighbours rushed Sandeep to the Civil Hospital from where he was shifted to a private hospital. The victim's family was contacted on Tuesday by one of his friends.

"The victim is unconscious and therefore unfit to give a statement. His condition is critical. The case has been registered on the complaint of his father Mahavir Singh," said Naresh Kumar, SHO, Civil Lines police station.

Last week also they had a fight but the matter was resolved by other friends, said the SHO.
