Fresco to get temporary water, sewage connection
The DTCP directed Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), formerly Huda, to provide the basic amenities after the residents lodged several complaints at the CM Window.
Taking cognisance of a series of complaints lodged by residents of Unitech Fresco, the department of town and country planning (DTCP) has recommended that the condominium society be given temporary water and sewerage connections till it gets an occupancy certificate (OC).

The DTCP directed Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), formerly Huda, to provide the basic amenities after the residents lodged several complaints at the CM Window. The residents told the authority that due to lack of a proper water connection, they had to rely on groundwater and, as per their calculation, every year, the society was forced to pump out 22 crore litres of water.
Unitech Fresco society in Sector 50 is spread over 17 acres and it has 875 flats in which 700 families presently live. Residents complained at the CM window that since the developer has not applied for an OC, they had to rely on groundwater as the HSVP has not issued it a water connection. The colony’s sewage and stormwater drainage system was also not connected to the master supply line, as a result of which the residents face a lot of problems during the monsoon.
DTCP officials said the department has told the HSVP in its recommendation that the developer has applied for an occupancy certificate in Chandigarh. “In view of the application, we have recommended that till such time the OC is issued, the colony may be given temporary connection of water and other amenities. We are working with both the home owners and the developer to resolve the issues,” district town planner RS Bhath said.
Fresco RWA president Nilesh Tandon said, “Residents have been facing a lot of problems due to lack of civic amenities. Not just water and sewage, but there are other problems as well. However, they too are likely to be resolved.”
