Gurgaon: 35 new sub-stations to ensure 24-hr power supply

The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) will construct 35 new sub-stations with capacity of 33KV each and augment the capacity of 19 existing ones. The Nigam has allocated R95 crore for the purpose.

New sub-stations will augment the capacity of transmission by around 435 mega volt ampere (MVA).

Most of the sub-stations are being set up in rural areas, including 28 in villages and seven in towns, to boost agriculture and give reliable and qualitative power supply to domestic consumers by installing pillar box system of power distribution.

Chairman and managing director, DHBVN and UHBVN, Devender Singh said that the target is to create distribution system of this model in over 1,000 villages by the end of this year.

As many as 322 panchayats have already given consent for setting up the new system of power distribution in their villages. “Work has already been started for installing 95 feeders in 253 villages. The work has been completed in 11 villages while in 66 the work is in advanced stage. After the work is completed, the villages would enjoy round-the-clock power supply,” said Singh.

DHBVN has also started a Rs 105-crore project for installing automatic meters.

The system is being installed on premises of consumers of all categories. The project will cover 85,567 consumers of the DHBVN.
