The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has floated tenders for the same and bids have been invited from private players, which can be submitted by July 6.

According the MCG engineer-in-chief, BS Singroha the FOBs with escalators would be set up on the BOT (build, operate and transfer) basis and successful bidders would have to maintain it for 20 years of concessionaire period.

"Each FOB with escalators would cost between R3 to 4 crore depending upon the technology used. Generally, pedestrians avoid FOBs as they lack escalators,” Singroha said.

The decision to set up FOBs fitted with escalators at 13 locations was taken by a committee in Chandigarh in January this year and the MCG was saddled with the responsibility of looking out for bidders.

FOBs have been proposed at locations such as Delhi-Gurgaon border, near Maruti plant on old Delhi Road, near Subhash Chowk on Sohna Road, near Badshahpur village on Sohna Road, near hotel Trident on Shankar Chowk, near Galleria Market in DLF City, Rajeev Chowk near Civil Lines, Palam Vihar T-Junction on Old Delhi Road, Iffco Chowk Metro station, Pataudi Road, main bus stand, MG Road crossing at Iffco Chowk and Shankar Chwok on DLF Cybercity side.
