Security guard held for molesting minor in Gurgaon

A 35-year-old private security guard has been arrested for allegedly molesting a minor girl at a posh housing society on Sohna road

A 35-year-old private security guard has been arrested for allegedly molesting a minor girl at a posh housing society on Sohna road, police said on Sunday.

The incident happened on Sunday afternoon, but the victim informed her parents about it only in the evening. The parents later lodged a complaint against the accused guard at Sadar police station. (HT Photo)

The accused, identified as Bharat Kumar, molested the 10-year-old girl while she was playing with her brother near the swimming pool area of the society in Sector 48. The girl, police said, is a student at a reputed private school in the city.

Police said that the incident happened on Sunday afternoon, but the victim minor girl informed her parents about it only in the evening. The parents later lodged a complaint against the accused guard at Sadar police station. In their complaint, the parents of the minor told police that the accused had ‘touched the girl inappropriately’ and even threatened to kill her parents, if she disclosed the matter to anyone.

Based on the parent’s complaint, an FIR was lodged against accused guard Kumar under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

“The accused guard has been arrested, produced before a court and sent to the jail,” a police spokesperson said.

Elsewhere, in a similar case, a 28-year-old man, identified as Vijay, a washerman, was arrested for allegedly molesting an eight-year-old girl inside the lift of a housing society on Sohna on July 25. The girl, a Class 3 student of a reputed Gurgaon school, had stepped inside the elevator of her building to reach to her flat when the incident took place.

On June 11, police had arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly molesting a minor who lived with her family as his tenants.

The accused was identified as Subash Singh alias Phool Singh who had rented out a house to the family of the victim in Dhankot village under Rajendra Park police station.
