Sixth dengue case in Gurugram district reported in DLF 2
Health department officials said Deepesh, a 44-year-old resident of DLF Phase 2, tested positive for dengue haemorrhagic fever.
Another dengue case was confirmed in the Gurugram district on Monday.

Health department officials said Deepesh, a 44-year-old resident of DLF Phase 2, tested positive for dengue haemorrhagic fever.
“The patient was admitted with high fever in a private hospital in the city on August 11 and was discharged on August 14. Tests on Monday confirmed dengue,” Dr Pradeep Kumar, district malaria officer, said.
This is the sixth dengue case, and the second in urban areas of the district this year. The season’s first confirmed case was reported from DLF 5 when a 40-year-old patient tested positive. Last week, Vikram, a 35-year-old resident of Badshahpur, tested positive for dengue.
Health officials said fogging has been done in the areas from where confirmed cases have been reported. They added that an intensive drive to check mosquito breeding in the district is taking place in all areas, and residences, government buildings and schools are being searched for potential mosquito breeding sites.
Apart from these workers, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has provided 20 workers to the health department to carry out anti-larval work. The team is in the process of inspecting containers and overhead tanks and treating them with anti-larval drugs such as temephos to check mosquito breeding.
As per the district health department data, 66 confirmed dengue cases 521 suspected cases were reported in Gurugram in 2017. Three cases of chikungunya and 48 cases of malaria were also reported last year.
A door-to-door awareness campaign is being conducted by health department workers, according to Ram Prakash Rai, district epidemiologist. “We currently have more than 100 workers in the field, who are going door to door to spread awareness on vector-borne diseases,” he said.
Pictorial pamphlets with dos and don’ts are also being distributed, he added.
Teams are visiting schools to demonstrate the life cycle of Aedes — the mosquito that spreads dengue and chikungunya – and raise awareness among students.
