Taking note of frequent complaints about poor road condition, Huda administrator Praveen Kumar has asked his department officials to increase the minimum thickness of a 12-foot-wide road to 40 mm instead of the existing 25mm.

Kumar said the move will reduce maintenance cost further.

On Thursday, the Huda chief held a meeting with the executive engineers of all the six divisions of the district and reviewed the estimate of road repair works prepared by them separately.

The executive engineers had prepared the projects of more than 200 km of roads in and around Huda sectors with an estimated cost of R18 crore. The road repair works in all the six divisions have to be completed by May this year.

“I wish you all review the estimates which have been prepared as per the current provisions of up to 25mm thickness for roads with 12-foot width. I want you to prepare estimates according to 40mm thickness,” Kumar said.
