Around 4am on Sunday, Malik was on his way to his house in Garhi Harsaru on his motorcycle when three men jumped on the road. “He lost balance and fell down. The suspects then held him at gunpoint and stole his bike and money,” Kumar said.

The assailants were unable to find Malik’s mobile phone, police said. “The suspects were in their early twenties and the victim could not see their faces properly as it was dark. There is no CCTV camera in the area. We are yet to identify them,” the SI said.

Theft outside bus terminal

In a separate incident, Rs 10,000 cash and a mobile phone were stolen from a car by two men while the driver was inside the vehicle parked outside the city bus terminal on Sunday night, police said. While one of the suspects pretended to ask the driver about an address, the other stole a wallet and phone from the car through an open window of the vehicle.

There have been multiple such incidents on the city roads in the recent past. On February 22, a 20-year-old student was allegedly abducted by a group of five men who came on two motorcycles and he was beaten up and robbed of Rs 7,000 and his mobile phone. The victim, a Delhi resident, was walking towards Huda City Centre Metro station from his office in Sector 44 when the incident happened.
