To drive home ill-effects of tobacco, activists take out rally

In order to educate the masses about the harmful effects of tobacco, a rally was organised on Thursday — World No Tobacco Day — by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in the district court premises.

In order to educate the masses about the harmful effects of tobacco, a rally was organised on Thursday — World No Tobacco Day — by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in the district court premises. As per directions of the district and sessions judge Dr BB Parsoon, who is also the Chairman of DLSA, the rally was flagged of by the additional district and sessions judge Jasbir Singh and DLSA secretary-cum-chief judicial magistrate Narinder Kaur.

The participants, a majority of who were impanelled advocates with DLSA and judges, took a a round of the court premises with a banner and placards highlighting the harmful effects tobacco.

CJM Kaur said such awareness programmes were organised in community centres and PHCs at Farukhnagar, Pataudi, Hailey Mandi and Sohna also to educate the masses about the consequences of consuming tobacco products.

World No Tobacco Day is observed around the world every year on May 31. It is meant to encourage 24 hours of abstinence from all forms of tobacco consumption.
