If you have a desk-bound job, chances are that you are extremely tired by the end of the day. So, while buying an office chair, it’s important to keep in mind the comfort, aesthetics, quality and the materials used.

Office chairs come with added features like adjustable lever to alter the chair's height, along with retractable back. Swivel base or castors are also very important for your office chair.

“An office chair should be ergonomically designed so that it is comfortable to sit for long hours,” suggests Samvit Tara, Director, International Furniture Brands. “Adjustable arms, flexible seat edge, extra-cushioned seat and deep recline are important features in office chairs,” says Sudhakar Lahade, architect, Steelcase.

Classical chairs come in solid mahogany, burl wood or leather. Contemporary-styled chairs are available in stainless steel or wood and other new upholstery fabrics and synthetic leather.

“Textured fabric is currently very popular. They come in different colours and can easily match any décor," says designer Monica Kamal. Health problems such as chronic back-ache and neck pain occur due to wrong sitting postures.

“You need a chair that works with your body to spare you from back-aches and fatigue,” says PS Rana, National Sales Manager, Usha Lexus Furniture.
