Women who were thin before becoming pregnant are more likely to have daughters than sons, claims Angelo Gagnacci an Italian scientist who studied 10,000 births.
He found that for every 100 girls born to women under 81/2st, there were only 98 boys. And mums weighing more than 81/2st were ten per cent more likely to bear sons.
According to the Sun, Mr Gagnacci also said the chances of having a girl rise if conception takes place in the spring, with autumn best for boys.
