Actor Margot Robbie has signed a first look deal with Warner Bros to executive produce an untitled Harley Quinn project, a spin-off for her Suicide Squad character.
Suicide Squad was met with generally negative reception but Margot Robbie’s performance was praised.
The new project expands the Australian actor’ relationship with the studio where they also producing an adaptation of Dean N Jensen’s Queen of the Air, in which she is tapped to star, said The Hollywood Reporter.
The deal will allow Robbie to develop and produce feature films through her LuckyChap banner. She will develop and produce along with her LuckyChap partners Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr.
The 26-year-old actor, who broke out in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street and won an Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer, has only just become a producer.
She and her partners are in post-production on neo noir thriller Terminal, their first movie as producers.
