Watch: Zootopia trailer promises more fun from the makers of Frozen
Walt Disney Animation Studios, the folks behind hits like Tangled, Wreck-it Ralph, Big Hero 6 and Frozen have released the first trailer for their new movie Zootopia. The movie will arrive in theatres on March 4, 2016.
Starring Jason Bateman as a sly fox who is framed for a crime he didn’t commit and Ginnifer Goodwin as the cop tasked with tracking him down, the non-traditional trailer introduces us to the new world the brain-trust at Disney has created.
Thanks to Jason Bateman’s excellent monologue, the trailer sets up the world (built by animals for animals), the characters (con artist fox and rookie bunny cop), the dynamics between the different ‘anthropomorphic’ animals, and offers some broad laughs. It’s a fun little clip, like some of those inventive Apple adverts, full of quick visual gags and rapidly shifting text graphics.
Directed by Byron Howard (Tangled) and Rich Moore (Wreck-it Ralph), it comes with great pedigree. Walt Disney Animation Studios (not Pixar) is on a hot-streak, one that peaked with the record-breaking success of Frozen.
It remains to be seen if Zootopia can build on that success.

In the animal city of Zootopia, a fast-talking fox who’s trying to make it big goes on the run when he’s framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Zootopia’s top cop, a self-righteous rabbit, is hot on his tail, but when both become targets of a conspiracy, they’re forced to team up and discover even natural enemies can become best friends
