16-km traffic jam after 66kV power line collapses on Delhi-Jaipur expressway
Commuters said that both the carriageways and the service lanes were blocked and no vehicles were able to cross it
Hundreds of commuters including at least five ambulances were trapped in a severe traffic blockade on Delhi-Jaipur expressway triggered from sudden collapse of a 66kV power transmission line across it near Narsinghpur on Saturday evening, said police.

The incident took place around 3.30pm and resulted in at least a 16-kilometres long jam on both the carriageways of the expressway between the cloverleaf intersection near Kherki Daula and Rajiv chowk.
Traffic police have reached the spot and were involved in diverting the traffic to other routes.

“We are diverting traffic to Southern Peripheral Road, Dwarka Expressway and other routes,” he said.

Commuters said that both the carriageways and the service lanes were blocked and no vehicles were able to cross it. Traffic police personnels have placed stacks of tyre on the expressway as emergency barricades to stop any vehicles from crossing it.
Gugugram traffic police issued an advisory and said that due to a “broken high-voltage power line near Indian Oil Petrol Pump, Narsinghpur, traffic has been temporarily stopped on both the Delhi–Jaipur and Jaipur–Delhi carriageways of NH-48 and the service road.”
“Commuters are advised to use the alternate routes as mentioned and follow the directions of traffic police. We regret the inconvenience,” it added.
