The assailants came on three bikes and when the two policemen who were on duty prevented them they were also attacked. Later the BJP released CCTV footages of the attack that showed involvement of SFI/DYFI leaders in the attack.

Later CPI(M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s son’s residence was also attacked. Violent incidents were reported from many parts of the district. The party has asked its workers to keep utmost restraint.

“We have given a deadline to the police to arrest all the accused. If we won’t get justice, the party will be forced to defend its offices,” said party general secretary MT Ramesh.

However the CPI(M) has denied any role in the attack. “It is a ploy to divert attention from the medical scam in which many state leaders are involved,” said party state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
