CBI arrests two Military Engineer Services officials in bribery case
A case was registered following the complainant’s statement that the officers were allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 1,10,000 for processing his bills of Rs 7 lakh regarding civil work executed by his firm.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested an assistant garrison engineer (AGE) and junior engineer (JE) of Military Engineer Services (MES), both working in the office of garrison engineer (Air Force), in Pune’s Lohegaon village for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribery of Rs 90,000.

The CBI registered a case against the accused under section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
A case was registered following the complainant’s statement that the officers were allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 1,10,000 for processing his bills of Rs 7 lakh regarding civil work executed by his firm.
The bribe amount was subsequently negotiated to Rs 90,000.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the JE red-handed at his office while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 90,000 from the complainant.
Searches are being conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused at Nashik and Pune.
The arrested accused will be produced at the Designated Court in Pune.
