Coagulation lab opens at KGMU, to help haemophilia patients

LUCKNOW A coagulation lab has started operation at city’s King George’s Medical University (KGMU). The facility will help patients of haemophilia or platelets disorder get accurate test results. The faculty of the department of pathology confirmed the development on Monday on the occasion of its foundation day.

So far, these tests were conducted manually. “However, with the new lab in operation, we will be able to do better work. The test report will take around six-to-seven hours to come in,” said Dr Amit Kumar.

On the foundation day of the department, HoD Professor US Singh spoke about other development and future plans of the pathology wing. Meanwhile, Dr Sumita Gokhle, currently in the USA, said that 80% of women who come to the department with a wound or problem in the breast should undergo a biopsy for early diagnosis of cancer.
