The accused, Edward Petrovich Goryachew, was arrested after a chase when nearly 15 policemen surrounded him at Calangute beach, a senior police official said.
The accused, in an inebriated condition, stabbed three locals, including a shop owner and a rent-a-bike operator, at Baga beach.
He later fled spot on his motorcycle and continued brandishing the knife. Later, he was tracked at Calangute beach by a police team, the official said.
Realising he was surrounded by the police, the accused rushed into the waters but was pulled out with the help of locals.
“The accused is being interrogated. All the three injured were shifted to a private hospital and their condition is stable,” the official said.
