'Have killed Rahul Gandhi': His response on his 'changing image'
Rahul Gandhi said he no longer cares about his image.
Rahul Gandhi triggered a momentary confusion at a press briefing in Haryana when he was asked a question about his "changing image" amid the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The party's mass contact programme is currently in the BJP-ruled state after covering Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and multiple other states. During this foot march, he has been seen navigating through streets with multiple known personalities while trying to connect people across cultures and geographies.
On being asked a question, if he considers his "changing image" as a "big achievement", Rahul Gandhi gave an unexpected reply.
"Rahul Gandhi is in your mind. I have killed him long back. The person who you are looking at right now is not Rahul Gandhi. You might be able to see him," he said at a briefing. "Read up on Hindu religion a bit."
"Read about Lord Shiva... don't be surprised. Rahul Gandhi is in the mind of BJP.. not in my mind. Why do you look so astonished?" he asks as people around him break into a laughter. "I am no longer concerned about the image. I am no longer interested. That's for others to decide. I have to continue doing my work."
In the past, Rahul Gandhi was often targeted and his remarks were played out by BJP leaders to take potshots at him. Many leaders of the rival party even called him "Pappu". The attacks, however, still continue.
When he had started the pan-India march in September, Rahul Gandhi had said that the journey will "change him tremendously". Recently, actor-politician Kamal Haasan had also pointed out how his great grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru had also carried out foot marches during the freedom struggle.
