Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be speaking at the ‘One World TB Summit’ in Varanasi on Friday. Taking to this official social media account, PM Modi said India is making numerous efforts to eliminate Tuberculosis.
“24th March is marked as World TB Day to spread awareness on aspects relating to TB and eliminating it. On this occasion, I will be speaking at the ‘One World TB Summit’ in Varanasi. India is making numerous efforts to eliminate this disease”, PM Modi wrote.
The Prime Minister will also launch TB-Mukt Panchayat initiative, the official pan-India rollout of a shorter preventive treatment and family-centric care model for TB and release of India’s Annual TB Report 2023.
Representative of WHO’s regional office, union health minister Mansukh Mandviya, UP governor Anandiben Patel, chief minister Yogi Adityanath will also participate in the event.
He will also award select states/Union Territories and districts for their progress towards ending TB.
On Friday, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of a ₹645 crore passenger ropeway during his visit to his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi.
The ropeway is among the projects worth ₹1,780 crore which PM Modi will either inaugurate or lay the foundation stone of during a programme at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University ground, where he will address a public meeting.
The 3.75-km Varanasi Cantt station to Godowlia ropeway will have five stations and facilitate the ease of movement for tourists, pilgrims and residents of Varanasi.
