The Bihar topper scam manhunt has led the investigators to Kolkata with a joint team of Bihar Special Investigation Team and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Bengal arresting one of the most wanted in the scam that shocked the nation in May.
Vikas Kumar, 40, a resident of Pataliputra in Bihar was picked up on Tuesday morning from his residence at Kadapara near Phoolbagan police station area in the north eastern part of the city.

In the investigation that followed, a huge racket was uncovered in Bihar where academically poor students were being declared toppers. Lalkeswar Prasad Singh, the former chairperson of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), was arrested along with his wife.
“Kumar is a very important catch for us because he played a crucial role in the scam,” said Patna SSP Manu Maharaj.
