The Shivaji Park police have denied permission to Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke for holding a protest at Shivaji Park on October 2.
Dipke termed it a “tactic” to suppress citizens’ voices. In a post on X, he said, “Such tactics to suppress citizens’ voices are unacceptable. If we are denied the right to protest, CJP will launch a Jail Bharo Andolan in Mumbai on Gandhi Jayanti.” (PTI)
In a social media post, the Mumbai police said, “Permission has been denied because Mumbai Police is not empowered to grant permission for any gathering at Shivaji Park...It has been explained to applicant Ajinkya Shinde and he has also been advised to look for alternate venues in Mumbai City for the protest.” They have also written to the organisers.
