NCP's Zeeshan Siddique gets death threat over phone, lodges complaint with Bandra police station

Earlier, Siddique, son of slain NCP leader Baba Siddique, alleged that he received a death threat over a phone call.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Zeeshan Siddique on Friday lodged a complaint with the Bandra West Police Station after allegedly receiving two death threats recently in Mumbai.

Siddique approached police after he allegedly received a death threat from a person claiming to be associated with gangster Rohit Godara, news agency PTI reported, citing an official.

Voice note, Portugal-based number - What happened?

NCP leader Siddique received a voice note on his phone while he was abroad. In the voice note, the caller reportedly identified himself as Zeeshan Akhtar.

Furthermore, the voice note reportedly came from a Portugal-based phone number. The caller also claimed to be associated with the Godara gang and allegedly threatened to kill the NCP leader.

PTI further reported that the caller also claimed that he had asked a fellow gang member to eliminate Baba Siddique two years before he was killed.

According to an official, upon returning to Mumbai, Zeeshan Siddique approached the Bandra police and lodged a complaint.

Death threat over phone call

Siddique, who is the son of slain NCP leader Baba Siddique, alleged that he received a death threat over a phone call and added that he had informed senior police officials along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding the matter, according to news agency ANI.

"I have informed Mumbai Commissioner of Police (CP) Deven Bharti and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis about the call," Siddique had told ANI.

These latest death threat claims came after the leader had earlier reportedly alleged that he received a death threat from the underworld.

Siddique received a death threat via email on April 22 last year, according to ANI. As per the officials, the email had threatened to kill him in the "same way" as his father. The email had also demanded ₹10 crore from him.

The assassination of former NCP leader Baba Siddique on October 12, 2024, when he was shot dead by three gunmen outside his son's Mumbai office, sent shockwaves through the country. After this, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the high-profile murder.

The investigation has revealed that prime suspect Akashdeep Gill used a labourer's mobile hotspot to communicate with key conspirators.
