Two tourists stranded mid-air on zip line, rescued safely in Rajasthan’s Udaipur

Two tourists from Gujarat were left stranded nearly 70 feet above the ground on a zip line ride near Rajasthan’s Udaipur on Wednesday

Two tourists from Gujarat were left stranded nearly 70 feet above the ground on a zip line ride near Rajasthan’s Udaipur on Wednesday evening after strong winds halted their movement mid-air, police said.

The zip line was operating between Deendayal Park and Manikyalal Verma Park, and the ride covered a distance of 630 metres and normally took around 45 seconds to complete

The tourists, who were stuck close to the landing platform at the Doodh Talai zip line overlooking Pichola Lake, were rescued safely by an on-site emergency team, officers said.

The zip line was operating between Deendayal Park and Manikyalal Verma Park, and the ride covered a distance of 630 metres and normally took around 45 seconds to complete. The tourists were stuck approximately 20 metres before reaching the landing platform.

“Four tourists from Gujarat had arrived for the ride in groups of two. One group had nearly reached the destination platform when strong winds suddenly picked up, causing the two riders to stop midway on the cable,” zip line operator Sharad Agrawal said.

The rescue team reached the tourists and escorted them safely back to the Deendayal Park-side platform.

Agrawal said the rescue team remains on alert at all times and is trained to reach stranded riders quickly and bring them to the nearest safe point.
