Two-day-old baby among three killed in Rajasthan crash

Three others sustained critical injuries and are hospitalized.

A two-day-old was among three people killed when a vehicle carrying six members of a family was crushed between a camper and an SUV in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, police said on Sunday, adding the other three were injured.

The newborn, her maternal grandmother and a man died in the incident, while the baby’s mother Badhu Devi, her maternal uncle Manish and his wife Manju Devi sustained critical injuries, police said. (Representational)

The accident occurred on Saturday evening near Bhadal village when the family was returning home after the mother and her newborn were discharged from a hospital.

The family from Madasar village in Phalodi was travelling in the car when it collided with a camper, and seconds later, an SUV travelling behind rammed into the car, the police said. The newborn, her maternal grandmother and a man died in the incident, while the baby’s mother Badhu Devi, her maternal uncle Manish and his wife Manju Devi sustained critical injuries, police said. The injured are admitted to PBM Hospital.

In a separate incident reported from Hanumangarh, three people were killed in a collision between a jeep and a scooter on the Pilibanga-Rawatsar road late on Saturday evening, police said.
