Assam buss accident: Four killed, 30 injured

Four persons, including a child, were killed and 30 others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on National Highway 37 in Golaghat district of Assam this morning.

Police said the accident occurred when the bus, on way from Tinsukia to Guwahati, hit the trailer truck, which was carrying four-wheelers and coming from the opposite direction, at Basagaon near Kaziranga National Park.

The bus caught fire immediately and four persons died on the spot.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.

The identity of the dead and the injured persons were yet to be ascertained.

The National Highway 37 remained blocked for some time after the accident but traffic had now resumed on that stretch.
