A speeding private bus ran into several cycle rickshaws and a motorcycle after the driver lost control at Morna Sector 32 City Centre crossing in Noida on Thursday, killing three people and injuring two others.

The incident took place just two hundred metres from the district hospital. Hospital sources said two people in the age group of 32 and 35 years were brought dead. Another person who was brought in a critical condition died before he could be treated.
“Twenty-five-year-old Lakshman Singh, resident of Khoda Colony, whose condition was very critical, died within few minutes before he could be referred to higher centre,” said Prem Prakash, who works as a pharmacist in the district hospital's emergency ward.
R.K. Saini, station house officer of Sector 49 police station, said the bus belonged to Chauhan Travels and used to ferry staff of a multinational company.
Saini said the driver had filled diesel from the Morna petrol pump and was taking a left turn when he lost control and hit the vehicles and an electric pole.
"There were no passengers inside the bus. Brake failure seemed to have caused the accident. Our technical team is investigating the cause. Driver Rakesh Kumar has been arrested," Saini said.
The two persons who died on the spot were rickshaw pullers — Anil Singh, resident of Madhya Pradesh, and Sulender Paswan, a resident of Bihar.
As per hospital records, Lakshman was the first to be admitted. Later two more injured were brought in. They were Uttam Kumar, resident of Morna, and Manoj Kumar Singh, resident of Ashok Nagar in Ghaziabad. Both were stable.
Manoj Kumar Singh, a medical representative, said he was dragged for several metres. "I was waiting at the Morna crossing for the green signal. I was on my bike. Suddenly a bus hit me and I fell sideways. My right leg has been fractured."
Another injured, Uttam Sarkar — a rickshawpuller — told HT from the hospital bed: "I had parked the rickshaw on the roadside and was drinking water when suddenly a bus hit me and crushed the rickshaw. I have three children in the age group of 3, 5 and 10 years to feed. Now who will feed my family?"
