The girls, peeved at the laxity of the college employees and the apathetic attitude of the district and education officials, took out a march and burnt the effigy of district inspector of schools (DIOS) Ramagya Kumar at Shastri crossing on Friday.

Seema Parveen, Huma Siddiqui, Nemat Jahan, Naaz Bano, Tabassum and others said that they are students of Anjuman Islamia Inter College and had appeared in the High School examination of UP Board as regular students from Ram Manohar Lohia Inter College, Kazakpur. They said since the Anjuman Islamia is not recognised for running High School classes, they were taking classes in the Anjuman as private students.

However, for appearing in the exams, they enrolled as regular students at Ram Manohar Lohia College.

Parveen said that the UP Board of Education allotted them the roll numbers for appearing in the examination.

But after four papers, the college management issued another roll number and said that the students had to use the new number from the next day.

Parveen, Jahan and others said that when they reached Ram Manohar Lohia Inter College for their marksheet, they were shocked to find that that the subjects in the marksheet were different from the papers they had appeared for.

Moreover, Arts students were handed over Science marksheet. Tabassum said that their pleas before the college administration went unheard. Thereafter, they knocked at the doors of local MLA RMD Agrawal and staged a dharna at the district magistrate’s office but the administration did not take any step to correct the erroneous entries.

The girl students flayed the irresponsible attitude of the Anjuman Islamia and Ram Manohar Lohia Inter College administrations and demanded stringent action against those who had ruined their future.

They also blamed the DIOS for shielding the college principal.
