Granting bail, Justice R Reghupathi directed the five persons to furnish personal bonds for Rs 10,000 each with two sureties each for like amounts and to appear before the Krishnagiri police daily for two weeks.

According to the complainant Venkatesan, he was attacked by a group of persons at about 5.00PM at Duragapuri in Krishnagiri district to prevent him from casting his vote.

Also granting anticipatory bail to a former AIADMK MLA V Govindaraj and 13 others, who apprehended arrest in the same case, the Judge directed them to each furnish personal bonds for Rs 10,000 with one security each and to appear before the police daily for three days.

Denying any involvement in the attack in their anticipatory bail pleas, they alleged that the case was being foisted on them at the instigation of the ruling DMK partymen.
