“Samajwadi Party is in power in Uttar Pradesh. It is the responsibility of the government in the state to see to it that the situation is under control. When the decision is still pending in the Supreme Court, it is the responsibility of the government to not allow the work to take place,” said Mayawati outside the parliament on Wednesday.

“If anything happens in Ayodhya (that violates) the order of the Supreme Court, then the government will be held responsible for this. BJP and RSS have always been trying to build the temple violating the SC order. This is nothing new. Centre should also put brakes on their own people. When BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) was in power, I did not let anything happen in Ayodhya due to which tension may arise,” she added.

Two trucks of stones were unloaded at Ram Sewak Puram, a VHP property, in Ayodhya on Sunday.
