AN ALL-ROUND display by Praveen Hingnikar of Nagpur helped to demolish Delhi by a huge margin of 216 runs. In the second match hosts Madhya Pradesh were no match for last year’s winners Gujarat as the visiting team routed MP by 10 wickets in a one-sided match to sail into the semifinals of the Bank of India inter-zone All India cricket tournament.

Once again, both the matches were one-sided affair. In the first match at Yeshwant Club ground, the Nagpur players thrashed the Delhi bowlers.
Praveen Hingnikar gave a flourishing start to his team. He batted brilliantly blasting 90 off a mere 47 balls with seven huge sixes and 10 power packed boundaries. He punished the Delhi bowlers mercilessly.
He was unlucky not to complete his coveted ton falling ten short of the mark. The other batsmen of Nagpur also belted the bowling to accelerate the run rate.
Mahendra Mishra scored unbeaten 56 off 46 deliveries with seven hits to the fence while Yogesh scored a brisk 53 in 46 balls with two huge sixes and four fours to help the team pile up a huge total of 304 for 8 in the allotted 40 overs.
Raj Kumar and Chandrashekar bowled well for Delhi to capture two wickets each for 43 and 49 runs respectively.
Delhi chasing a huge target of 305 for victory, were again dancing to the tune of Praveen Hingnikar, this time to the guile of his bowling. He grabbed eight wickets for 34 in his spell of eight overs. Chandra Shekar was the only batsman who resisted for sometime scoring 34 off 38 balls with three fours and one six. Delhi were bowled out for a paltry 88 runs to lose the tie by 216 runs.
Gujarat rout MP
SHAILENDRA SOLANKI and Vineet Sharma destroyed hosts Madhya Pradesh for a meagre 79 runs in 14 overs, in the second match played at Emerald Heights International School ground.
Narayan Iyer of the host team was the only batsman to show any resistance. He helplessly watched his teammates being skittled out at regular intervals.
Whatever strike he got he utilised it to belt the leather in order to boost the score. Iyer scored a brisk 35 in just 36 balls with three fours to help his team to score 79, otherwise his team would have been bundled out for less than 50 runs.
Shailandra Solanki bowled brilliantly to capture four wickets for 29 runs in seven overs while Vineet Sharma took three wickets for 29 runs in five overs to help their team to send the hosts Bank of India packing. In reply, former champions Gujarat had no difficulty in surpassing the low target of 80 without losing a wicket.
Umesh Patel scored 40 in 36 balls with five boundaries while Parvez Kazi scored an unbeaten 31 off 37 balls with five boundaries to help their team to thrash the hosts by 10 wickets to sail into the semifinals.
In the semifinal line up tomorrow, Nagpur would clash against Gujarat at Yeshwant Club while in the second semifinal Mumbai would clash against Pune at Emerald Heights International School respectively.
